Explanation & Methodology

A percentage represents a fraction out of 100. The following formulas are used:

• Percentage of a value: \( \text{Percentage} = \frac{\text{Original Value} \times \text{Rate}}{100} \)
• Increase by X%: \( \text{New Value} = \text{Original Value} \times \left(1 + \frac{X}{100}\right) \)
• Decrease by X%: \( \text{New Value} = \text{Original Value} \times \left(1 - \frac{X}{100}\right) \)

Example: Increase 200 by 15%: \( 200 \times (1 + 0.15) = 230 \).
